Ilocos Norte: Kapurpurawan Rock Formation, Bangui Windmills

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Second day: From our hotel, we hired a tricycle to bring us to the famous Kapurpurawan Rock Formation where most of past Enteng Kabisote movies were shot. Our guide said they will be shooting the next month so too bad we visited early, would have loved to see Vic Sotto in person. Hehe! Though we did pass by some props being made for the movie. As they said the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation or White Rock Formation is an interestingly-shaped hill of white limestone rock formed through the processes of sedimentation and erosion by the natural forces of land, sea and wind. Depending on which side you look at the top part of the hill, you may see a submarine or a head of dragon. I guess I see both.

Next stop was Bangui Windmill farm. It started to rain when we step out of the rock formation and reached this place still raining so we had to wait for the rain to stop before we could go closer the wind mills and so my pictures are kind of dark. The windmill is said to be the first source of clean energy in the Philippines, and supplies electricity to 40% of Ilocos Norte so lucky them.

We still had time left before it get really dark so we decided to proceed to Pagudpud where we had a quick dip and just enjoy the cool water. It was raining that time and getting dark so I would love to go back to this Boracay of the North someday and hopefully get the breeze and warmth of this powdery white sand beaches.
