Sagada Trip

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Sagada had always been one of the top places I wanted to visit. Luckily this December, I had checked it on my list as DONE.

First week of December, before the holidays, before the place gets crowded with tourist who wants to be here as much as we do, my sisters and I got ahead and had our first ever sisters' out of town spree. We started off from Banaue taking the first trip at 6am from to Bontoc for an hour. We were able to catch some beautiful terraces along the way and also a rainbow.

Right after reaching Sagada, we first looked for a place to stay and it was still early December but most lodges were full but we managed to find one, George Rest House (wifi available).

Unpacked then started off our day and Sumaging Cave and Lumiang Burial Cave were the first places we went into. Steps going down the caves were really steep and slippery that we needed to hold on to rocks and be barefooted. Inside the cave,I was astonished by the cave’s natural and splendid beauty. Our "free" guide showed us different and awesome rock formations with funny and interesting names. The fun in this adventure was passing through tiny holes, passing by high steep inner passages, rappel using ropes and walk or swim in breast deep cold water. Funny, I just found out "spelunking" was the term for this cave explore.

The next day, we went to the Echo Valley where the hanging coffins are, trekking the Underground river on slippers and lastly, to the falls. (Still don't know the name).
